I’m REALLY Pregnant…

So, I’m 39 weeks pregnant (39 weeks and 3 days, to be exact, but really, who’s counting?) and it’s getting rough. It’s as if every single day has 400 hours in it, and everytime there’s a hint that labor might be starting, it’s a total fluke. And I keep doing research on things like “How to survive your last week of pregnancy” or “How to stay sane during your last week of pregnancy” and I can’t find ANYTHING. You know why? Because, by this point, every pregnant woman has gone absolutely bonkers! We’d be willing to stand on our heads if it would make labor come! We’re so ready to evict our child from our womb that we’re incapable of enjoying these last few hours, days, (possibly weeks, dare I say it!) of pregnancy. And I’m COMPLETELY included in this. I mean, we’re big, uncomfortable, tired, and, at least in my case, this kid has had her hand or foot in one of my ribs nearly constantly for the last 5 months. So HOW are we suppose to enjoy the end of pregnancy? It seems completely unrealistic.

Well, I’m proposing a shift in how we view things.

Every time I start to feel negative about how big I am, or WHY she hasn’t come yet, I try to think of something positive to add to a list of “Last Week Blessings.” These don’t have to be big things, they can be tiny! But I’ve found that it helps keep things in perspective. My list currently contains some of the following things;

  1. I was able to do dishes uninterrupted. (no stopping to feed a crying baby)
  2. Baby is active and healthy. (A full-term baby is always best!)
  3. I’ve gotten two loads of laundry done, including some super cute clothes for the baby.
  4. I finished prepping the nursery. (It just feels good to know that’s totally done!)
  5. I took a nap! (Those are precious!!)
  6. I’ve had time to spend with my wonderful husband. (I know one-on-one time will be harder to get once we have a baby at home.)
  7. I’ve watched entire episodes of flea market flip.

You get the point. I mean, EVERYTHING is about to change, and yes, I’m anxious to meet my daughter. I’m excited to see what she looks like, and to watch her little personality develop, BUT, thinking about NOTHING but her arrival, is unhealthy! If you’re in a similar situation, I encourage you to keep busy, and make that list! It’s amazing what you begin to appreciate.

So much to do, so little time!

So, it’s been 6 days since my last DIY post, which is crazy because I’ve been working on projects like mad! However, I haven’t actually finished any of them! But I didn’t want you guys to feel like I’d abandoned you! I promise I’m working on stuff and it’ll probably all get finished at approximately the same time, meaning, there will most likely be a FLOOD of posts all very close together! I’d love to show you what I’ve been working on, but I’m weird about showing half finished projects. So I figured I’d touch base and let you know that I am indeed working on some really cool stuff that you guys are gonna go bananas over!

HOWEVER, I figured I’d show you my January/February wreath so that you’d at least get to see SOMETHING I’d worked on. Even though I didn’t take pictures along the way for a true step-by-step guide.

Valentines Wreath

Everything on this wreath I already had at my house, so I didn’t have to buy ANYTHING! I used the form from my Christmas wreath, wrapped half in a pink lace “baby ribbon” and the other half in a white rosette ribbon. The hearts are backed in cardboard to keep them solid and they have stick pins in them that I put between the cardboard and the paper so they would stick into the foam wreath without showing on the front of the heart. The arrow at the top was the same concept; cardboard covered in paper that I colored for the pink gradient. I sadly forgot to put the stick pins in before I added the paper so it’s on top, and kind of caused a wrinkle in it paper. All around, a super simple wreath that I think turned out pretty well!

That’s all I have for y’all for today, but I’ve got a lot of really awesome stuff coming for you!!!

…Where the heck have you been?

So, it’s been a really long time since I blogged and I owe y’all a serious apology! But I can explain why I’ve been missing from the blogosphere! So, I blogged awhile back about how I was pregnant! (We’re super amped about it) however, I had a ROUGH first trimester. Like, me and my couch had a lot of close bonding time. I slept a lot and spent a lot of time pondering why my tiny child was trying to kill me.

Well, on top of being crazy sick during my first trimester, my husband was looking for a new job, and HOORAY, he found one! However, that meant, packing up our lives (quite quickly, actually) and move from the Atlanta south to Decatur Illinois. Yeah…We hadn’t heard of it either. 3 hours south of Chicago, 2.5 hours from St. Louis. Kinda small, super quaint, and the people are awesome.

And, in the middle of that move, I had a work trip to NYC and a Cruise with one of my best friends to The Bahamas (which we planned back in the summer before I even knew I was pregnant) so it was literally the most insane time to have a work trip or to have a vacation.

So, we’ve now moved about 650 miles and started our lives over. I’m now (almost) 20 weeks pregnant and we’ll know what we’re having soon! And I  swear I’ll get some DIY/Thrifting posts up soon!! I figured in the meantime, I could show you our super cute house! I’ll probably do a real house tour once everything is done, but at this point, we still have bags of trash in our living room, so give us some time 🙂

Here’s pictures from our cruise!

So, here we go! A baby house tour!V__71C9

Here’s our cute house! Three bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, and built in 1928! We love it!
